Motorhomes, boats and vans with large engines need a lot of current to turn over, especially after a long rest. The NOCO Boost X GBX155 is the strongest of the Boost X family for that reason.

It puts out 4250A peak for petrol engines up to 10.0 L and diesels up to 8.0 L on 12V lead-acid batteries. Even if it has run flat, 5 minutes of charging lets you jump start. UltraSafe 2.0 prevents sparks and reverse polarity damage, and a 60-second timer saves energy.

Its USB-C PD port (60W) charges it in 2.7 h on a 60W charger and powers laptops, tablets or phones. The 99 Wh battery also feeds a 500-lumen torch.

How to use it, step by step

• 1.  Turn off the engine and ignition.
• 2.  Attach red to the positive (+) post and black to the negative (-) post or a bare metal earth point.
• 3.  Switch the GBX155 on and turn the key.
• 4.  When the engine is running, remove the clamps in reverse: black, then red.
• 5.  Put it back on charge; with a 60W USB-C charger it takes 2.7 h.
