A big diesel left standing for a couple of weeks can drain its battery more than you'd think. The NOCO Boost HD GB70 has the reserve to wake it up without calling for help.
This 2000A booster takes on petrol engines up to 8.0 L and diesels up to 6.0 L on 12V lead-acid batteries, with up to 40 starts per charge. The spark-proof clamps are protected against reversed polarity, it detects batteries from 2V and you can use manual override when they're flatter still.
Its 56 Wh battery charges devices via USB, and the XGC port supplies 12V at 15A for a tyre inflator, an inverter or other 12V kit. A 400-lumen torch completes the package.
How to use it, step by step
- 1. Turn everything off and take the key out of the ignition.
- 2. Connect the red clamp to the battery's positive post and the black clamp to the negative post or a clean metal earth point.
- 3. Switch the GB70 on. Use manual override only if a deeply discharged battery isn't detected.
- 4. Start the engine and disconnect in reverse order, black clamp before red.
- 5. Top the GB70 up afterwards; 12V fast charging takes 2-3 h.
